M. Gill
& Associates operates the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Minority Business
Development Center which is funded by the U.S. Department of
Commerce Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). The mission of the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Minority
Business Development Center (MBDC) is to increase the opportunity
for ethnic minorities to participate in the free enterprise system
through the formation, development, preservation and growth of
competitive minority-owned businesses. The MBDC executes its
services with pride, commitment, courtesy and quality.
The
services of the MBDC include
assistance in the areas of marketing, finance
and accounting, manufacturing, construction
and procurement assistance, international trade assistance, administration,
human
resources management, general management, certifications and
technology.

Empowerment TrustIn
1999, M. Gill & Associates joined the management team of the Miami-Dade
Empowerment Trust as a Financial and Public Relations
Consultant, and has recently been confirmed by the Trust Board to
continue providing those services on a contractual basis.
M. Gill & Associates is
charged with responsibility for coordinating the Trust’s Financial
Services Program, and as the liaison to the Banking community. Assignments include the development of a comprehensive
financial investment plan that includes a $130 million tax exempt
bond program and a 2-year program for the expenditure of the $400
million banking commitment for commercial and residential lending in
the Empowerment Zone. Accomplishments include the formalization of a Bankers’
Empowerment Partnership for the banking community; RFP development,
implementation and report analysis of a Tax-Exempt Revolving Loan
Demand Survey; development of an RFP for a low-interest Revolving
Loan/Gap Financing Program; Organization of two banking conferences
and an EZ Business Incentives Workshop for the general public;
creation of an EZ Benefits Brochure and a Financial Information
Resource Guide; assistance with writing and editing the Trust’s
newsletter; representing and making presentations on behalf of the
Trust at various local and national events, and at information
gathering visits to other Empowerment Zones.
